How to Change an Air Filter

It's about that time again, time to change things up a bit by installing a new air filter in your car. Follow these easy steps to speed the process up!

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Basic tools (wrenches, vice grips just in case)
Step1
Purchase the new air filter before throwing out your old one.
Step2
Open hood and check for the air box, if you can't find it look in the owner manual.
Step3
Once you find the air box there will be screws or clamps holding it in place, remove them.
Step4
With the clamps undone you should be able to get to the air filter. Pop open top cover until you see the air filter.
Step5
Grab the old air filter and pull it out slowly. Once all the way out, throw it away.
Step6
Place in new air filter and make sure it fits in place securely.
Step7
After new filter is installed, backtrack these steps until everything is back together.

Tips & Warnings

  • Change air filter every 10,000 miles
  • Changing filter could extend gas mileage
  • Never alter or change the air filter
