Clean Hardwood Floors

These easy to care for directions are for sealed wood floors. This will keep your hardwood floors shiny and in great shape for many years and remember, the most important factor is never to put too much water on any hardwood floors.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Turn on any ceiling fans in the rooms you are cleaning.

  2. Step 2

Dust the floors first, use a micro fiber mop or a Swiffer with a fresh cloth.

  3. Step 3

Using a regular bucket, fill half full with warm water and add ¼ cup of white vinegar.

  4. Step 4

Find a good mop. I prefer the Libman Wonder Mop because it is easy to squeeze excess water out, easy to keep the clean and dries quickly.

  5. Step 5

Put the mop in the vinegar water and gently turn it. Squeeze all excess water out. Now you are ready to wipe your floors. You can also wipe the baseboards. Using the Libman Wonder Mop allows you to wipe the baseboards very easily.

  6. Step 6

Once a month I steam clean my wood floors with a steam cleaner. Eureka makes a small hard floor steamer that comes with a microfiber pad that can be reused after a cycle in the washing machine. Just remember to follow the manufacturers instructions and never leave the steamer sitting on the wood floor.

  7. Step 7

For continued maintenance, just use a micro fiber mop to keep your floors dusted on a daily basis. Your floors should stay shiny and will be great looking in just minutes.
