Replacing the lamp inside your DLP, LCD, or SXRD Rear-Projection television is a very simple task. There are a few things you need to know in order to perform the successful removal and installation of a replacement projection television lamp.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Philips head screwdriver
  • Microfiber cloth
  • Replacement television lamp
  1. Step 1

Turn off your television. Wait approximately 30 minutes to make sure that the television is cool. If it isn't cool to the touch after 30 minutes, wait longer.

  2. Step 2

Using a Philips head screwdriver, open the compartment where the lamp is located. You should be able to determine where it is by finding a small square shaped panel on the side or back of your television. Remove the old DLP lamp. You should be able to remove it by pulling it out slowly. If it appears to be stuck, make sure that nothing is in the way.

  3. Step 3

Wipe the area where you removed the old DLP lamp with the micro fiber lamp.

  4. Step 4

Open the package of the new replacement DLP lamp. Dust it off with the micro fiber cloth to remove any debris.

  5. Step 5

Install the new lamp in the place of the old lamp. Screw the panel back into place on the television. Turn the television on and reset the hours to prevent any messages from coming on the television advising you to replace the lamp.

Tips & Warnings
  • Take your time
  • Don't force the old lamp out of the television
  • Be sure to keep dust out the television
