Flickr is one of the top photo-sharing sites on the Web. If you're an active member, chances are you have hundreds of contacts viewing and appreciating your work--but your best photos and images don't have to stay in the online world--you can showcase your creations at home! Decorate your living space with your very own photography and watch your houseguests awe at your masterpieces.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Printer and photo paper
  • Assorted picture frames
  • Photo coaster set, keychain or refrigerator magnets
  1. Step 1
    Showcase your photos.
    Showcase your photos.

Plan on how to showcase your photos. Go over your Flickr sets and collections and check for themes you can work with, like flowers, animals, colors, shapes or locations. Fire up your color printer and print out your photos.

  2. Step 2
    Frame focal pieces.
    Frame focal pieces.

Use award-winning photos as focal pieces. Some of your photos may have won awards in a number of Flickr group contests. The ones that came out on Explore/Interestingness are sure winners. Photos that earned hundreds of "favorite" votes are obviously your best shots.

  3. Step 3
    Cluster similar photos.
    Cluster similar photos.

Cluster similar photos for visual impact. Theme-specific photos in identical frames grouped together can make a statement on your wall.

  4. Step 4
    Display photo arrangements.
    Display photo arrangements.

Display decorative photo arrangements in the usual places. Photos are always hung above the headboard, on the mantle and next to the buffet table. Use these places to hang frames of your favorite Flickr photos.

  5. Step 5
    Try different framing styles.
    Try different framing styles.

Try different types of framing. Transparent box frames will be good for "floating" photos. Flat mounting would be excellent for "inspirational" and café'-type shots. Multi-photo frames are great for family pictures or travel photo journals. Consider different frames for different photo subjects or photography styles.

  6. Step 6
    Use photo ledges.
    Use photo ledges.

Consider photo ledges for non-permanent displays. Ledges allow you to change photos on a whim. Showcase your Explore/Interestingness photos on the ledge and change them out as new ones are selected.

  7. Step 7
    Use photo coasters.
    Use photo coasters.

Use every opportunity to display your photos. Photo coasters, refrigerator magnets, key chains, digital frames, postcards and greeting cards are just some of the many ways to show off your photo creations.

Tips & Warnings
  • A good photo printer and premium quality photo paper will give you excellent prints that will last a lifetime.
  • Estate sales, garage sales and thrift stores are excellent sources for picture frames.
