A strawberry granita is a frozen mixture of water, sugar and in this case strawberry flavoring. It is very tasty and if you want to drink it instead of eat it, just add seltzer to a tall glass with granita in it. It will quench your thirst on these hot summer days.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • strawberries
  • ice cream scoop
  • 2 cups of strawberry daiquiri mix
  • 1 and 1/2 cups water
  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • large metal baking pan
  • mediium saucepan
  1. Step 1

Combine the strawberry mix, water, and sugar. Cook over medium-high heat, stirring constantly, until sugar is dissolved and it begins to boil. This should take about ten minutes or so. Remove from the heat and let it cool to room temperature.

  2. Step 2

Take the metal baking pan and place it on a level surface. Once the granita mixture has cooled to room temperature, pour it into the pan.

  3. Step 3

Carefully take the pan and place it on a level shelf in your freezer for about 1 hour. Remove from freezer and stir the granita mixture with a fork. Put it back in the freezer and let it freeze until it is very firm for 2 hours longer, stirring with a fork every 30 minutes to break up the ice.

  4. Step 4

When ready to serve, stir the granita again with a fork to break up any large chunks of ice. Using an ice-cream scoop, pour it into individual serving glasses. Place a strawberry on the top of each glass if desired, and enjoy! Ah! Refreshing!

Tips & Warnings
  • Using a large metal pan versus a smaller pan will make the granita freeze faster and will be more fluffier.
