1. Identify potential competition: Look in your area's business directory and do a search online for companies that may attract the same customers. Remember competition can be a good thing.
2. Observe how the competitors advertise and deal with their customers. Identify both their strengths and weaknesses. Look how they are planning for changes in the economy and they have changed in the past few years to the market place.
3. After looking at the competition determine how your business will be able to compete in the market. What will make your business different from others. It can be a more defined niche, better service, or other factors that make your business stand out.
