Milk Jug Bird Feeder
-
1
Rinse the milk residue from a 1 gallon milk jug.
-
2
Measure three inches from the bottom of the milk jug. Use scissors to cut a hole three inches in diameter on one side of the milk jug. Cut a hole three inches in diameter on the opposite side as well.
-
-
3
Glue the pie plate to the bottom of the milk jug. The pie plate will act as a perch for the birds.
-
4
Use the scissors to poke a hole near the top of the milk jug. Poke another directly opposite the hole you just made. Run the string through the holes and double-knot the string so you can hang your bird feeder.
-
5
Place the rock in the bottom of the milk jug, pour bird seed into the jug and hang the bird feeder on a tree branch.
Pinecone Bird Feeder
-
6
Mix cornmeal and shortening and thickly spread the mixture all over the pinecone.
-
7
Pour bird seed onto a cake pan and roll the pinecone in the birdseed. Get the bird seed into every crevice of the pinecone. Let the pinecone harden overnight.
-
8
Tie a piece of yarn to the top of the pinecone by looping it under the topmost leaves of the pinecone. Double-knot the yarn and hang the bird feeder outside.

Tips & Warnings
The best bird seed to attract a variety of birds is a black-oil sunflower seed because the seeds are easy for small birds to crack.
