How to Draw Backyardigan's Pablo

Nickelodeon is home to several popular children’s shows like SpongeBob Squarepants, Dora the Explorer and the Backyardigans. The Backyardigans is a CG cartoon featuring five friends who go on adventures and one of the most popular characters is a penguin by the name of Pablo. Pablo is enjoyable on television and easy to draw at home, for your own pleasure or to entertain your children.

Things You'll Need

• Pencil
• Paper
• Eraser

Instructions

1. Draw a round circle. Erase part of the bottom of the circle so that Pablo’s head can connect to his body.

2. 

   Create two large eyes towards the center of the circle. The eyes should not be too close together or Pablo will look awkward. Draw a large black circle in each of the eyes and add a small white pupil.

3. Detail the eyes with two small eyebrows a little bit higher than the eyes.

4. Use the picture to help draw Pablo’s bill. It starts out as a curved top and connects all the way around. Add in a tongue inside of his mouth and a little curve at the top of the nose to help show depth.

5. Extend two arms wide out like Pablo is about to hug or showing a lot of excitement. His hands feature a thumb and then a large section without any fingers.

6. 

   Add in a round stomach section to Pablo’s body. Towards the top of this section, add in a simple bow tie with a round center and the two sides going out.

7. Draw Pablo’s top hat on the left side of his head. Detail the hat with a little spinner at the top and multiple sections that represent different colors.

8. Erase any editing lines and sharpen lines that you have created.

9. 

   Color in Pablo if you would like or just leave him the way he is.
