Things You'll Need:
- Acting coach
- Agent
- Resume
-
Step 1
Start early. If you have dreams of being an actress, it’s best to start working on your craft early, perhaps in high school. Join the drama club or participate in your local community theater.
-
Step 2
Move to Hollywood. Since most acting jobs and agents live in Hollywood, you’ll need to relocate to the city. In the beginning, you’ll likely need to find full-time employment and act on the side. Living in Hollywood makes it a lot easier to attend auditions and open calls.
-
Step 3
Find an acting coach. Some women are natural actors, and they don’t need any formal training. However, the majority of people who aspire to become a Hollywood actress will need professional training. Once you get settled, look for an acting coach or join a performance arts school. The techniques you learn will help you in the business.
-
Step 4
Look for small, insignificant roles. Practically every big actress had their start playing a minor role on television and film. Some even began their career on commercials. Rather than immediately audition for a major role in a motion picture, attempt to become an extra or audition for a small role. You’ll build a resume, which can open the door to larger roles.
-
Step 5
Get an agent. You can get roles and become an actor for Hollywood without an agent. However, an agent can get your foot in the door.
