How to Fundraise for a School Trip
If you're like most high school students, or even junior-high students, you'll likely have to pitch in and do some of your own fundraising in order to attend a school trip. But you don't have to bake cookies and cakes and sit outside of your local supermarket! Instead, here are some fun and creative ways to gather the funds you need.

Begin with the obvious. Ask all your family members and friends to donate to your cause. A fun way to do this is to create an online newsletter or e-vite describing your trip, why you want to go, how much money you'll need and by what date.In this newsletter or e-vite ask everyone you know to forward it to any of their friends or family members.

Go to your local resources. Depending on the trip you are taking, you may have some local resources that are willing to donate. For instance, if you have a wildlife sanctuary nearby, and you are going to visit the rain forest, the local sanctuary may donate for your trip in exchange for you sharing your experience with visitors when you get back. This is just an example, but get creative and think outside the box.

Many times local libraries have extra funds allocated in their budget for speakers, especially children's programs. You may want to see if they will donate to your trip in exchange for having you as a speaker when you return.

4
Hold a giant yard sale. Ask all the faculty and staff members at the school to join in, and hold a school-wide yard sale. Students and parents can also donate. Have all the proceeds go directly to the students who are taking the trip.

5
Ask your local pizza shop to donate a certain percentage of their sales on a particular day toward making the trip a success. This is especially lucrative during holidays or game days such as Super Bowl Sunday.

6
Drop off a donation can. Ask all the local businesses around your area. Put a picture of yourself or your class on the front with a short explanation about what you're raising the money for. Lots of pennies can add up!

Tips & Warnings
Don't feel like there isn't anyone you can ask. Even strangers, when approached, may be happy to help after they know the details of what you are raising the money for.
