Straightening irons can be used to create beautiful curls that add body and sense of fun to your hair. All you need to achieve a curly look with your straightening iron is hairspray, a straightening iron, hair clips and Velcro rollers.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Straightening iron
  • Hairspray
  • Velcro rollers
  1. Step 1

Section your hair into three sections: left side, right side and back. In each section, separate off a top and bottom. You can use hair clips to keep them separate. However, don't clip back every section. For example, if you are going to tackle your left side first then only clip that section back and leave the rest of your hair down.

  2. Step 2

Start at the bottom of the section. Take a strip of hair about an inch in width and spray it with hairspray.

  3. Step 3

Clamp your straightening iron to the root of your hair. Beware not to burn your scalp, by getting the iron as close to the root of your hair as you can without burning yourself. Then wrap the loose hair in the strand around the straightening iron.

  4. Step 4

Hold the hair in the position for a few seconds then release by pulling the iron downward. Repeat this step until your entire head is done.

  5. Step 5

If you have fine hair you will want to use Velcro rollers after you have released your strand of hair from the straightening iron. All you need to do is take the roller and wrap the hair around it just like you did when you wrapped your hair around the straightening iron. Be sure to roll the hair sideways in the roller, not under. This gives the hair more curl. Once the hair is in the roller, spray some hairspray on the hair.

  6. Step 6

Once the hair is completely done with the curling process you may find you need to go back with the straightening iron to add curl to any ends that didn’t get as tight of a curl as you would like.
