Watch for JCPenney fliers in the newspaper. At least twice a month JCPenney distributes coupons in the paper for their various weekend sales. These coupons are $10 off a purchase of $50 or more, $15 off a purchase of $75 or more and less frequently, $20 off a purchase of $100 or more. You can use these coupons toward the purchase of regular, sale or even clearance priced merchandise. If you are buying a lot of merchandise you can save even more money by asking the associate ringing your purchase to separate the items into transactions of $50 and use the coupon multiple time. Most associates are amiable to this request. If not, you can ring a separate transaction at another register.

Shop during the Lowest Prices of the Season sales. As you can imagine, there's an L.P.O.T.S. for each season, and while some of JCPenney's advertised sales are simply a marketing emphasis on their already low prices, the Lowest Prices of the Season sales have genuinely deeper discounts.

Apply for the JCPenney credit card. Cardholder benefits include periodic 15% off events and, for premium cardholders, a $15 off birthday coupon in your birthday month as well as occasional coupons for $10 off a purchase of $10 or more. In some stores, when you apply for the JCPenney card, you will be given 10% off your purchases that day; regardless of whether or not you were actually approved for the card.

Ask about Friends and Family day. Several times a year JCPenney holds Friends and Family day where friends and family members of employees, as well as frequent shoppers, can use the 20% off discount that usually only applies to JCPenney employees. Because sales goals for Friends and Family days are usually quite high for each store, getting the word out is important and stores rely on associates to hand out the special invites. There are usually plenty left over and asking an associate or supervisor will get one of these great shopping passes into your hands.

Take the JCPenney customer satisfaction survey. On the back of each JCPenney receipt you'll find the web address jcpsurvey.com. By going to the website and taking the survey, which covers different aspects of your shopping experience at JCPenney, you'll be able to print a coupon for 15% off when the survey is completed. Keep in mind that you will need your receipt from a purchase within the last seven days to complete the survey. You can complete the survey once every 30 days.
