Pluck Eyebrows Painlessly

Plucking your eyebrows doesn't have to be the tedious and painful experience that it sometimes can to be. With just a few hints and tips you'll be on your way to beautifully shaped eyebrows without all the burning and stinging.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Tweezers
  • Washcloth
  • Cotton swab
  • Benzocaine topical ointment
  1. Step 1

Invest in a good pair of tweezers. Though you can find tweezers in any dollar store manicure kit, you want to bypass those in favor of tweezers with a heavier weight and a tighter grip. This will make plucking each hair a lot easier.

  2. Step 2

Wet a washcloth with the hottest water you can stand to touch. Gently squeeze to wring out just a little of the excess water. Place the hot washcloth over your eyes and eyebrows for about 10 minutes to dilate pores. With your pores open, plucking your eyebrows will go much more smoothly.

  3. Step 3

Remove the washcloth. Try pulling out a couple of eyebrow hairs to test your tolerance. Some people are able to pluck their eyebrows by just using the washcloth trick. If you aren't one of those lucky people continue reading.

  4. Step 4

Use a cotton swab or your fingers to dab a little benzocaine topical ointment, like Orajel or Anbesol, on to your eyebrows and the surrounding skin. The benzocaine in the ointment numbs the skin around the eyebrows so that you can pluck them without feeling a thing. Be careful not to get it in your eyes though.

  5. Step 5

If this is your first time plucking your eyebrows, make it easy on yourself by just following the natural curve of your brow and plucking out all the little wayward hairs. Later when you've got the hang of it, you can be a little more ambitious in your shaping.
