Visit the zoo. The Toledo Zoo has added quite a few exhibits over the last few years, including an up-close and personal polar bear exhibit and an African safari. If you're visiting the city in the winter, the zoo is still open, and perhaps more fun than in the summer. Around Christmastime, the zoo will feature a lights exhibit set up around the entire zoo (see Resources below).

Go to the art museum. Not only does the museum house beautiful works of art, it also offers classes of all kinds for students of all ages. Even better, the museum hosts special "It's Friday!" events every Friday. Adults and families can hear live music as well as take part in crafting sessions (see Resources below).

Visit the Botanical Gardens. Filled with color, life and beauty, the botanical gardens are a treat for the nature lover in your family. The nice thing about the gardens is that they offer outdoor jazz concerts every Thursday throughout the summer evening hours (see Resources below). Visit on the weekends and you're likely to see newlyweds and their wedding parties posing for pictures among the beautiful foliage.

The mall is located at 5001 Monroe St. on the corner of Monroe and Tallmadge Roads. Hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
