How exciting it is when a couple prepares to celebrate their first anniversary! A first anniversary is a milestone in a marriage and should be celebrated with great pomp and circumstance. Couples can celebrate a first anniversary on any budget. To celebrate your first wedding anniversary follow these simple steps.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Invest in paper. Traditionally, the first wedding anniversary gift is to be something of paper. Photos, cards, stationery, a love letter or a poem are great paper gift ideas that can be customized to meet any budget. Some couples have professional portraits done on their first wedding anniversary to celebrate.

  2. Step 2

Visit somewhere meaningful. The location where you made your vows, where you proposed, or where you had your first date are great places to visit on your first anniversary.

  3. Step 3

Look through your wedding album or watch your wedding video. Your first anniversary is a great time to look back at your special wedding day ceremony and celebration.

  4. Step 4

Go on a special date. If you have children, invest in a sitter and spend some time alone together. Go for a walk or go out to dinner, but keep the focus on the two of you and your relationship.

  5. Step 5

Reminisce. Talk about all you've accomplished as a couple over the past year -- things like how you've worked out newlywed issues, vacations you've taken and goals you've met.

  6. Step 6

Talk about your future. Share your goals, visions and dreams for your marriage. Express your love for each other and renew your commitment to your future.
