New York City is one of the most multicultural and ethnically diverse cities on the entire planet and also home to many Latin American neighborhoods and sections. Along with Dominicans, Puerto Ricans, and many other groups, there are a lot of Mexicans and Mexican Americans living in the five boroughs. Here are a few ways to take advantage of the best Mexican dining in New York City.

  1. Step 1

    Go to Agave Restaurant on Seventh Avenue South. Agave Restaurant is Mexican cuisine with a southwestern influence. The southwestern style is reflected in the restaurant's cozy decor, with the adobe walls and soft lights. Agave serves up classic Mexican favorites like quesadillas and tacos (be sure to try the blossom tacos!). With a friendly staff and diverse menu, Agave should be one of the first Mexican restaurants you try in New York.

    Eat at Crema Restaurant on West 17th Street. This West Side Mexican restaurant with the romantic and dimly lit setting is perfect if you want refined and traditional Mexican cuisine. There is a strong French visual influence in the restaurant's decor. This is a great place to go for a romantic date. The dishes are artfully presented and capture the essence of Mexican cuisine. The fresh Mexican guacamole here cannot be beat.

    Visit Mi Cocina on Jane Street. This is a bright and airy Mexican restaurant located downtown. Around since 1991, Mi Cocina creates Mexican food with a homey yet classic style. The calamari ceviche is melt-in-your-mouth delectable and the spinach enchiladas are flavorful and filling. Mi Cocina offers up a unique yet classic menu and should definitely satisfy any Mexican food lovers.

    Stop by Florencia 13 on Sullivan Street. Located between Houston and Bleecker Streets downtown, Florencia 13 is a hip and down to earth Mexican eatery. The margaritas are excellent and the shrimp tacos have customers repeatedly coming back for more and more. Not only is the menu top notch, but the staff is friendly and reliable.

    Dine at Pampano on East 49th Street. Pampano is an upscale and elegant restaurant located in midtown Manhattan. Pampano is notable for its coastal Mexican cuisine, focusing on dynamic seafood dishes. The seafood offered here is amazingly fresh and tasty, and items such as the smoked swordfish and red snapper quesadillas are marvelous and satisfying. This is a must-have for Mexican food and seafood lovers.
