Planning a vacation isn't always a fun activity. Sometimes your stress level will increase because of constantly trying to find the best deal, quickest flights and the easiest route. There are plenty of websites that offer features that allow you to compare hotel rates, car rental rates and flight pricing. Thankfully, the Internet can help relieve some unwanted stress by helping you to organize everything. TripIt is a website that lets you take all of your travel bookings and create an organized itinerary. With a few simple suggestions, you'll soon learn how to use TripIt.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Register for a free TripIt account by visiting the homepage. In order to learn a little more about TripIt, click the “Learn More” button and you'll have the chance to view more details about the way the service works. There are also videos that will also help to provide you with more information. Click the “Sign Up” link listed on the homepage to begin your registration process.

  2. Step 2

Enter personal details, such as your name, screen name, email address, password and home location. If you would like to keep updated with the latest changes and deals from TripIt partners, then place a check mark in the available box. You'll also be prompted to read the terms and conditions that accompany the TripIt service. In order to move forward in the registration process, you'll need to agree to these terms. After doing this, select the “Join Now” button to complete these steps.

  3. Step 3

Click the verification link that was sent to your registered email address. As soon as you do this, you'll be guided back to the TripIt website. There will be a pop-up window that has your name and a few other details already populated into it. Verify that the entered information is correct and provide the TripIt service with more than one email address. Select the “Save and Continue” button to close the window.

  4. Step 4

Update your profile information for TripIt by clicking the “Update Your Profile” link on your dashboard. You'll have the chance to include a personal photo of yourself, write a brief introduction about yourself and add your personal website link or social-networking profile. After entering your desired information, click the “Save and Continue” button to complete this step.

  5. Step 5

Click the “MyTrips” tab to start organizing your brand new trip. You'll need to create a name for this trip, select a primary destination, start and end date. When finished, select the “Create Trip” button to move to the next component for organizing your trip. On the “MyTrips” dashboard, click the “Add Plans” link to enter your traveling details.

  6. Step 6

Select one of the travel icons on the pop-up window that appears. There are icons for a hotel, flight, car rental, cruise, restaurant, and a few other things. For an air flight, just enter your confirmation number in the available box. If you already have a booking confirmation email, forward it to the TripIt email address. This will help you save time and prevent you from having to manually enter all of the details.

  7. Step 7

Add restaurant information to make planning and organizing your trip easier. Restaurant reservations can be entered into the TripIt database by doing it manually or forwarding an email from OpenTable.com. Doing this will help to keep your travel itinerary more organized and easier to handle.

  8. Step 8

Compare various prices for flights, hotels, and car rentals by selecting the “Trip Search” tab. Enter details about the departure date, return date, destination and if it is a round trip or one way. After doing this, click onto one of the available booking websites. You'll be able to compare prices from American Airlines, Expedia, Orbitz, Hotwire and several more sites.

  9. Step 9

Print your finished travel itinerary or share it with others so they'll know what you're up to. Accessing your TripIt itinerary can also be done from a mobile device. Visit the TripIt mobile site from your mobile device and remain updated on your travel plans. It will be presented in a slimmed-down interface for easier viewing.
