Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Find an airline hostess training program that is recognized by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). You can find these programs by contacting national and international airlines, searching online or talking to people you know who work in the industry. Training programs should include courses in customer service and relations, emergency safety procedures and emergency medical care. Cabin crew direct.com and Corporate Flight Attendant Training are two of many programs available.

  2. Step 2

Obtain certification by passing all requirements needed to become an airline hostess. You should learn how to perform CPR and rescue breathing, swim and tread water, end confrontations peacefully and perform customer service duties such as serving drinks and meals during a flight.

  3. Step 3

Contact airlines to see which are hiring. You may need to pass an internal test before you will be assigned a position. If you prefer to work in certain regions, mention this so that you will be assigned to flights that interest you the most.

  4. Step 4

Learn as much as you can about customer relations. This is a valuable skill that can help you resolve conflict and maintain a sense of calm during a flight. Because you never know what kinds of personalities you will be dealing with on a flight, understanding basic human nature and reacting quickly can help diffuse most situations.

  5. Step 5

Maintain your certification by taking additional courses and seminars offered by the airline you work for. This will allow you to perform your job to the best of your ability at all times.

Tips & Warnings
  • Having an open mind and customer friendly personality are two traits that can serve you well in this profession.
  • Always follow the airline hostess guidelines set up by the airline you work for when it comes to customer relations.
