How to Chose Shorts for Body Type

  1. Step 1

Choose shorts that reach mid thigh, if you are one the short side. Cuffed styles also will look cute on you. Make sure the shorts are above the knee. Avoid baggy shorts, they are too overwhelming on petite women.

  2. Step 2

Try a straight cut Bermuda short, if you have a pear shape. This type of short will lengthen and slim your thighs. Choose solid color shorts and colorful tops to draw the eye up. Avoid cargo shorts. The pockets will add width to your hips.

  3. Step 3

Try a pair of knee length Bermuda shorts with no pleats, if you are a plus size. They are flattering to a larger frame and they are also dressy. Avoid very short shorts and shorts with pleats.

  4. Step 4

Choose shorts that have cuffs and are convetible, if you are very tall. Shorts that have a convertible length make very thin legs look curvier.

  5. Step 5

Try slim fitting shorts that hit mid knee, if you have larger thighs. Look for shorts with a low waist. This will keep long shorts from looking dumpy. When wearing longer shorts, try wearing a pair of wedges to elongate your legs.

Tips & Warnings
  • If your shorts are too long, have them hemmed.
  • Avoid shorts with bulging pockets.
  • If you cuff your shorts, the cuffs should not be tight around the thighs.
  • Short are appropriate for weekends, fun, casual evenings, and some dressy shorts may even be appropriate for work.
