Motion sickness, with its nausea, dizziness and fatigue can affect anyone in any type of travel situation. Fortunately, there are herbal remedies that can reduce these unpleasant sensations and make travel a comfortable experience without the unpleasant side effects of pharmaceuticals.

From Quick Guide: Info on Travel Sickness
Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • German chamomile
  • Fresh ginger root
  • Cayenne powder
  • Peppermint essential oil
  • Black horehound tea or tincture
  • Licorice root
  1. Step 1

Use a chamomile infusion to reduce the discomfort of motion sickness. German chamomile is the best variety for a tea to combat the travel sickness blues. Simply steep chamomile flowers in boiling water.

  2. Step 2

Prepare a ginger and cayenne tea to bring along on your trip. Grate an inch of ginger root into a glass jar. Add a dash of cayenne pepper, and pour boiling water over the blended herbs. Steep for 5 minutes. Pour the liquid through a strainer. Sip the tea about 30 minutes before departure. Carry the remainder in a thermos. Sweeten with honey if desired.

  3. Step 3

Add a few drops of peppermint essential oil to a handkerchief. Sniff as you travel. Peppermint settles an upset stomach.

  4. Step 4

Take black horehound as a tea or in tincture form to prevent nausea that comes with motion sickness. A relative of peppermint, black horehound settles the nerves with its volatile oils.

  5. Step 5

Chew licorice candy or drink it in an infusion. Licorice root's anti-inflammatory properties soothe the stomach's mucus membranes and reduce fatigue.

Tips & Warnings
