Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Outside envelopes
  • invitations
  • inside envelopes (optional)
  • RSVP cards
  • Envelopes for RSVP card
  • reception cards
  • Tissue or vellum overlay (optional)
  1. Step 1

Address the outside envelope for mailing. Include postage.

  2. Step 2

Decide whether or not you will use an inner envelope. This is a tradition that many couples today have chosen not to follow. If you decide to use an inner envelope, only the names of the invitees (including children) should be written on the envelope. The inner envelope should not have any gum on it and should not be sealed.

  3. Step 3

Place tissue or vellum overlay over the print on your invitation if you choose to use tissue. It is also considered acceptable to omit the tissue or vellum overlay.

  4. Step 4

Place RSVP cards into their individual envelopes. RSVP envelopes should be stamped and self-addressed but not sealed.

  5. Step 5

Decide whether you will send reception cards. Reception cards are used if you are not inviting all wedding guests to the reception. If this is not the case, you may also choose to omit these.

  6. Step 6

Place invitations, RSVP cards (in their envelopes) and reception cards into the inner envelope if you are using one. Place the inner envelope into the outer envelope with the flap facing toward the back. If you are not using an inner envelope, simply place all components into the outer envelope, seal and mail.
