A decoder is something like a computer program that allows the DVD player to decipher the information in the video to make it visible and playable to the DVD player. Use your Internet connection and web browser to navigate to the Brothersoft website (see link in Resources below).

From the list of results, choose Power DVD, the second choice from the top.

Download the program to your computer, being sure to save the file to a place where you can go back and find it.

Double-click the file that was saved to your computer and begin the install process.

Follow the on-screen instructions to install the DVD codecs. Now your computer should have no problem playing DVD's.
