Step 1
Dine at Krik Krak on Amsterdam Avenue. This Upper East Side Haitian restaurant is on the smaller side, but makes up for what it lacks in size with warm hospitality and great food. The ambiance is wonderful here that customers often forget that they are actually in New York City and not in Haiti. With artfully presented dishes and good-sized portions, Krik Krak will keep you coming back for more and more. Be sure to try the grilled steaks and tender beef; they are marvelous.
-
Step 2
Check out Le Soleil on Tenth Avenue. Le Soleil is a wonderful place to get casual, authentic Haitian food at extremely reasonable prices. It's no surprise that a large portion of the patrons at Le Soleil are Haitian expatriates living in New York City. The Griot (fried pork cubes) are tasty and satisfying, and the fish served here is extremely fresh. The atmosphere of Le Soleil is sparse, but you'll hardly notice as you're enjoying your Haitian delights.
-
Step 3
Visit Le Bistrot in Brooklyn. This Flatbush Avenue Haitian restaurant offers up all of the traditional Haitian favorites, like Griot, rice and beans, soups, and fruit salads. This mango juice (as well as the other exotic juices offered) is unbelievable with a fresh, Island-style flair. With most of the customers being Haitian or from other Caribbean islands, Le Bistrot is a wonderful way to get the taste of Haiti in Brooklyn.
-
Step 4
Try Kombit Kreyol Restaurant in Brooklyn. Another Flatbush Avenue dining option, Kombit Kreyol not only has a polite, friendly staff and warm atmosphere, but a terrific menu as well. The pumpkin soup and black rice are just a couple of the customer favorites here, and after one bite of the food offered you will know that you are tasting something genuinely Haitian. The conch stew is another menu highlight.

Step 5
Stop by Ambiance Caribbean Restaurant in Brooklyn. This Avenue L Haitian restaurant offers up some of the most flavorful and exciting Caribbean menus in the city. The stew chicken with the Haitian style rice and peas is one of the standout dishes on the menu, but you can pretty much order anything available at Ambiance Caribbean and be happy with your pick.
