Step 1
Plug in both your DVD player and VHS tape player into your computer. Search for the red, yellow and white outlets both on the side, front and back of your television set. Almost every TV has at least two sets of these. If you have an HDMI cable for your DVD player, this will work fine.

Set your TV to the appropriate station for watching DVD movies.

Place the DVD into your DVD player and a blank tape into the VHS player.

Turn both players on and begin your DVD movie.

Hit the “Record” button on your VHS player. The video file found on the DVD will begin recording onto the VHS tape. When you've finished recording, hit the “Stop” button on the VHS player. You may want to rewind the tape just to make sure that the recording worked.

Plug the DVD player into your TV using either the red, white and yellow chords or an HDMI cable.

Set the TV to the appropriate channel for watching DVDs.

Place a blank tape into the VHS player found on your TV set.

Begin playing the DVD.

Press the "Record" button found underneath the VHS player on the TV. Once you've finished recording to the VHS tape, press the "Stop" button. Once again, you may want to rewind the tape in order to make sure that the recording worked as planned.

Place a blank tape into the VHS and the DVD you wish to record into the DVD player.

Step 2
Set the TV to the station you use to watch DVDs.

Begin playing the DVD.

Step 4
Hit the "Record" button underneath the VHS portion of the TV to begin recording the DVD onto the VHS tape.

Step 5
Press the "Stop" button on the VHS portion of the TV set to complete recording. Once again, check the tape to ensure that recording went smoothly.
