Instructions

    • 1

Watch for the four enemy ships at the top center of the screen when your screen becomes completely filled with enemies. These are the largest ships on the screen and take two hits to destroy.

    • 2

Hit each of these large ships one time. You will know you hit them when they change colors.

    • 3

Allow your fighter to be captured by the tractor beam the large ships will shoot out--as pictured above. Your captured fighter will turn red and the enemy ship will return to the top of the screen.

      A Galaga, or double fighter

Shoot the enemy ship with your captured fighter. Be sure not to shoot your captured fighter or else it will be destroyed. If you do this successfully, the game will stop and your ship will come down towards you.

You should hit all the large enemy ships once so you don't have to shoot them twice to save your captured fighter. Having to shoot an enemy ship twice only increases the chances that you will accidentally destroy your own fighter. Try to have your fighter captured with a minimal amount of enemy ships left on the screen. The less enemies you have to deal with the better your chances of saving your fighter are.

These hints do not guarantee that you will be able to attain a Galaga. You must successfully hit the enemy ship in order to save your fighter and attain Galaga. This will take some practice to learn and will only become harder as the game advances because the enemy ships will increase their speed and their shooting capabilities.

Tips & Warnings

  • The large ships will always follow the same pattern once they begin flying. Study the pattern and use this to your advantage when you need to save your fighter.

  • If you attain a Galaga, you will have twice the firepower but you will also have twice the width. This makes avoiding enemy fire especially hard.Staying in constant movement will help you avoid enemy fire.

  • Do not try to attain a Galaga if you have no lives left. When you let one of your fighters be captured you are sacrificing a life for the potential to have more firepower. If you have no lives left and you are captured, the game will be over.
