Ontario is “yours to discover” and so are their ghosts! Haunted mansions and old forts, spooky desolate roads and fancy museums, Ontario’s ghost population knows no boundaries. This is a place for a ghost hunting vacation, and hearing local stories is easy in this beautiful country. Ready to meet some spectral residents in Canada? Let’s go.

      Check in at the Kempenfelt Conference Centre in Barrie. Guests here report that the apparition of a man appears to those who stay in room 2201 and that the spirit of a woman walks down the stairs late at night. Talk to night staff to hear personal stories of encounters.

      Do some EVP (electric voice phenomenon) at the Hastings County Museum in the old Glanmore House in Belleville. This old Victorian is home to some otherworldly activities like the sounds of children giggling, doors being held shut by unseen hands and the sounds of footsteps running through the building. Talk to the museum staff to hear more stories.

      Visit the Woodland Cultural Center in Brantford. Plenty of activity has been reported here, including apparitions and the appearance of ghosts traveling together around the property. Visitors also claim to hear muffled voices while wandering around the property.

      Check out the Fulford Mansion in Brockville. This working museum houses more than just historical items, it has a ghost too! Workers report seeing an apparition at night and wonder if it’s not the former owner!

      Put your car in neutral on Magnetic Hill in Burlington. Yes, this is one of those spooky spots where unseen hands supposedly push your car up a hill! Powder your back bumper to see if you can get the imprint of little hands from the supposed spirits of children who died in a bus accident. Talk to the locals to get the specific directions.

      Visit the McKenzie House in Cobourg and spend some time in the Rose room. A great place to try some EVP work, the Rose room is supposedly the frequent haunt of the spirit of an elderly woman who used to live or work here. You may also encounter the ghost of a bagpipe player and a little girl called Elizabeth so talk to the staff and see if you can make contact.

      Do some time at the Old Jailhouse in Cornwall. Ghost hunters will delight in the unexplained happenings here, including cold spots, electrical phenomenon like disconnected phones ringing and shadow people.

      Go to the Old Fort in Fort Erie to visit with the spirits of two resident ghosts. One is a woman who famously made herself known in a photo published in the local paper, while the other is a soldier who appears in the mess hall. Talk to employees to get your ghost-story fill.
