Usually, buying a water bed is less expensive than buying a traditional bed, so it can be frustrating to find that water bed sheets are very expensive. Nevertheless, you can convert regular sheets into water bed sheets with just a little skill. Regular sheets can be used, but the problem tends to be that the top sheet never stays tucked in.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • One bottom sheet with elasticized corners
  • One flat top sheet
  • Straight pins
  • Sewing machine with matching thread to the sheets
  1. Step 1

Match up the bottom edges of the top sheet and the bottom sheet with the right sides facing each other. Don't worry about matching them exactly because the elasticized sheet will be scrunched up and hard to match. Basically, get both centers to be facing each other.

  2. Step 2

Pin the edges together starting at the middle and working out, stretching the bottom sheet as you go to match up with the top sheet. Both sheets will now bunch up together, which is fine. You might also find that the top sheet is wider than the bottom sheet, but that is fine, as well. Just stop pinning when the bottom sheet stops.

  3. Step 3

Now, sew the sheets together slowly along the pinning with a sewing machine. You will have to stretch the bottom sheet out as you go along, so take your time and try to keep it steady. Sew a small section, stop and pull out the pins just before you get to them and continue to the end. Knot the ends well.

  4. Step 4

Reinforce the seam by sewing along it another time if you think your sheets get tugged a lot. Otherwise, turn the sheets right side out and place them on the bed. Tuck in the bottom sheet as normal trying to get it as low as you can under the edge of the mattress. The top sheet will be automatically tucked in and should stay in place now.
