How to Cleanse and Charge Rune Stones
Cleansing and charging the tools you use in divination and practice are very important. Over time, the tools you use can pick up some nasty vibes. This is especially true if someone, to whom you have not given permission handles the tools. Though the same holds true with runes as with Tarot, if you do a reading for someone who is carrying some heavy negativity around (due to stress and/or worry) you need to cleanse the runes to recover the balance they had before the reading. Even when doing readings for yourself, it is still very important to cleanse the stones before and after each reading.

Cleanse Rune Stones

On a clear, sunny day take the stones outside and place them in a place where they will get plenty of sunshine and will not be disturbed. Usually a window sill or large flat rock will work.

Be sure to place the stones out in the early morning hours. When you lay the stones out, be sure to leave a bit of space between each stone. This allows the stone room to "stretch out" and absorb the sun. If the stones are in a bundle, this defeats the purpose of the cleansing. All the energies and vibrations merely hop from one to another and absorb from one to another when the stones are in a pile with all the stones.

Leave the stones outside in the sun all day and bring them inside in the evening as the sun starts to set.

When you bring the stones inside, hold the stones in your hand. Concentrate on the stones and focus on the vibrations coming from the stones.

If the stones feel fuzzy or heavy, then you may wish to place them back out in the sun the next day. Once the stones feel light and clear then you know that the cleansing has been successful.

For this aspect, you may wish to ask Spirit, or whichever divinity you feel most comfortable working with, to guide you with this working.

Hold the stones in your power hand and concentrate on the vibrations they are putting forth. If the vibrations are clear and light, continue with the charging. However if the vibrations are heavy and fuzzy, return to the cleansing aspect mentioned in the previous section.

While holding the stones in your power hand, concentrate on the stones. Imbue the stones with positive, bright energies. Seek clarity with the stones. Ask that the stones continue to help you to find the answers that you seek and the clarity and guidance that you need in order to make informed decisions.

If you are working with Spirit, ask that Spirit blesses the stones and to grant you the clarity and guidance that you seek. When you are finished charging the stones, be sure to put them away in a safe place and to thank Spirit for the guidance received.
