Choosing gifts for a new mom can be relatively easy. However, many people get caught up in choosing a gift for the newborn baby. There is no doubt that the new mom will appreciate any gifts for the newborn baby, but the new mom deserves a gift as well as the baby. Remember, she will be spending a few weeks at home with the newborn baby and that can be tough. Sleep deprivation, stress, anxiety and more can really get to a new mom. 1. Create something. Create a gift basket of your own to give to the new mom. A spa-themed gift basket could be just the thing she desires. You could fill the basket with lotions, bath scents, soaps, slippers, nail polish, a robe, candles, and a gift card to a local spa. Think about what the new mom would enjoy most and theme it with her in mind.

2. Journal. A new trend for moms is journaling about their newborn baby so they can give this journal to their child when they are old enough. It can also be fun to share the journal with the child when she can understand. You will need to get a journal from a scrapbooking store and make sure that the paper in it is acid free. This will ensure that it lasts a long time. You can write in the new baby's name, date of birth, time of birth, place of birth, weight, and length to get the new mom started on her journal.

3. Gift cards. For the tired new mom who just doesn't want to pull a meal together, consider gift cards for going out to eat at local restaurants pr gift cards for getting food delivered. New moms don't have a lot of time to cook and eat well prepared meals, and it would be nice to be able to take the new baby out to eat. The new mom can also get a babysitter to go out with friends for a meal and take a break.
