Determine which scent you are interested in trying and visit the appropriate website. Almost all sites have a search box. Type in "samples." The average price is $3 per bottle, but you will also have to pay for shipping and handling charges. It's a good idea to order several samples at the same time and combine the shipping charges rather than ordering them separately.

Go to Fragrance X.com if you can't find what you are looking for on a manufacturer's site. This site has plenty of name brand perfumes such as Tommy Hilfiger. Search NexTag to get an idea of what fragrances you want to try. The above sites are great if you already know what you are looking for. If you are new to the idea of perfume, you may not know what is out there. On NexTag you can find a list of fragrances beginning at $2.95 per sample bottle. Most sites will require you to pay shipping and handling unless there is a promotion going on and then shipping and handling may be free.

Visit Perfume King. This site has a link at the top called "Testers." Click on that link and you will be shown several perfumes that are available in a test bottle. This site is well-designed, but the test samples tend to be high-priced. Essentially, these samples are comparable to half of a regular bottle at half the full price; however, it will still save you money in the long run if you don't end up liking the scent.

Visit your local Macy's. This department store has a lot of product samples and you can try them without having to make a purchase. The only drawback to this approach is that you may end up spraying too many scents on your body and can't make a distinction between them. Still, it is free.

Go to Lucky Scent's Samples site. This the best site of all. There are hundreds of perfume samples for $3 and up. These samples come in 1/32 oz. glass vials. Finding which perfumes you want is not difficult because they are listed in alphabetical order. You could potentially get all the samples you want from this website alone. You would also be combining shipping costs by shopping in one place, which would save you some money.

Tips & Warnings
You must test the perfume on your own skin. It will smell differently on someone else. Get a friend to be your smell tester and ask her if the fragrance smells good on you. Make sure the friend you choose is honest.
Don't use more than a few drops of perfume at a time or you are apt to get a headache. Even if you don't get a headache, the person next to you will.
