How to Use the Computer Recycling Bin

Every computer comes equipped with a recycling bin. In order for you to delete items on your computer, you must have a place to put the items. This is where you utilize the computer's recycling bin. The recycling bin on your computer is one of the easiest things to use.

  1. Step 1

    Locate the items you want to delete from your computer. If you know what items you want to delete you can locate them manually, granted you know where they are on the computer. Otherwise you can use the "'Search" feature located on the "Start Menu." Simply type the name of the file, folder or item you are looking for and then select "search."

  2. Step 2

    Select the items you wish to delete from your computer by clicking on it using your mouse. Then right-click on the highlighted item.

  3. Step 3

    Choose "Delete" on the listed options. When you right-click on any item it will give you different commands you can choose from.

  4. Step 4

    Choose "Yes" to delete the selected items. When you click on "Delete" to remove a file, you will automatically be prompted with a box that asks if you really wish to send that file to the computer's recycling bin. Choose "Yes" to delete it and "No" if you changed your mind or made a mistake.

  5. Step 5

    Right-click on your "Recycle Bin," located on your desktop. You will see the command menu and one of the options is "Empty Recycling Bin," which you want to click on if you wish to delete the entire contents in the recycling bin. If you want to view the items in the recycling bin you can double-click on it or right-click and select "Open."
