How to Print an Alignment Page for an HP Officejet

An alignment page is a page that you print and then scan using your HP Officejet all-in-one printer. This allows the printer to read the printout and automatically adjust the alignment of the print cartridges for optimized printing results. Printing an alignment page on your HP Officejet requires that you have the HP Solution Center installed on your computer -- a program designed to directly interface with the connected printer. Printing an alignment page is simple and straightforward; you should print a page and realign the print cartridges each time you replace them.
Connect your printer to your computer, if not connected. Insert paper into the paper feed tray on the back of your Officejet printer. Press the "Power" button on the left side of the printer to turn the unit on.
Click on the Windows "Start" button. Hover over "Programs," select "HP" then click on "HP Solution Center." A new window will appear.
Click the "Settings" button at the bottom of the window. The Settings menu will appear.
Click on the "Printer Settings" button beneath the "Print Settings" section. A new window will appear.
Click the "Device Services" tab at the top of the window and click on "Align the Print Cartridges" button. A dialog box will appear.
Click "Print Page." The alignment page will print.
Open the scanner lid and insert the alignment page, face down and horizontal, onto the scanner surface. Line up the bottom right corner of the page with the bottom right corner of the scanner surface. Press the "Scan" button on the left side of the printer to scan the alignment page and align the print cartridges.
