How to Make My Nose Appear Smaller

You can stop hiding your nose.

Not everyone is blessed with their dream nose. And even plenty of people with a perfectly satisfactory "schnauz" are ashamed of it. Well, there's hope for those who would like to make their nose look a little bit smaller. For those who want to make a minor difference without a drastic measure like surgery, makeup and even the way you turn your head can change the way people see it.

• Foundation
• Concealer
• Digital camera

Instructions

Cover Up

1. Shrink your nose with concealer. Run a fine line of concealer down the bridge of your nose and use a slightly darker shade along the sides of it.

2. Blend well. These lines need to be fine enough that no one can detect them.

3. Set your nose makeup with a thin layer of powder to keep it in place and to avoid it sweating it off gradually.

The Head Turn

1. Turn your head very slightly down and to the side to make it appear smaller. The way you hold your head affects how big it looks.

2. Have a friend take pics in various, slightly different head poses, or set your camera to self-timer, to get your facial positioning just right. This technique is particularly useful and appropriate for taking photographs, whether it's picture day at school or an important event like a wedding.

3. Don't obsess. It's all about illusions, which you can create when you're working with a camera. In real life, however, don't become that girl who always has her head down and turned. It's not good for your posture or your self esteem. Smile and the world will smile with you.

Accessories

1. Choose large accessories to complement your nose. Go for a loud scarf to draw attention away from it or a funky hat to bring people's eyes to the top of your head.

2. If you wear glasses, choose a frame with purpose. Opt for large, dark rimmed glasses in a shape that complements the rest of your face.

3. Bring someone along to get an honest opinion about your accessories and eyewear.

Tips & Warnings

• Smile broadly. Your biggest showing-all-of-your-teeth smile is going to make your nose look a lot smaller than a tight lipped grin, which will only bring out a big nose by showing the contrast in size (between your mouth and nose).

• For boys with big noses, stay away from the concealer. Even a makeup artist risks her fine amount of nose makeup being visible.
