Things You'll Need:
- Fireworks
- Lighter
- Water
-
Step 1
Buy the fireworks from a reputable manufacturer that you can trust. This way you know that you aren’t getting faulty or dangerous fireworks. Fireworks are dangerous anyway, but this will protect you against any additional risks.
-
Step 2
Read the instructions on the fireworks. Before you shoot any fireworks, make sure that it has an item number, a brand name and instructions on the box or body of the firework. This way you know that you are shooting a legitimate firework.
-
Step 3
Find the wick that you will light and pull it out. Keep the wick dry, so it will light properly.
-
Step 4
Pick a safe spot. Find a place that is open and not close to houses or any other objects. Make sure that you will be able to shoot the fireworks into the air without hitting any trees, fences, cars or other objects around you.
-
Step 5
Keep people and pets out of range prior to shooting fireworks. This will prevent injury as well as protect their hearing.
-
Step 6
Set the firework at a safe distance away from everyone around. Pull the long fuse out and pull it straight to light it. You want to be able to light the fuse and get away from the fireworks safely before they shoot off into the air.
-
Step 7
Light the fireworks and set them off one at a time. Although it is tempting to set off several fireworks for a large display, set off only one firework at a time in order to prevent injury.
-
Step 8
Douse the finished fireworks with water to make sure they are cooled off and won't shoot off accidentally. Clean up your fireworks mess.
