How to Write a Wedding Program

Wedding programs have become popular over the past few years. In addition to introducing the participants of the wedding and giving structure to the ceremony by letting guests know what will happen next, wedding programs can be a keepsake for the participants of the wedding and the guests. Whether you choose a program that is one simple page or a several page booklet, be as creative as you want in personalizing a wedding program.

Instructions

1. Include the names of the bride and groom, the date, the location, names of the wedding party, and names of other principals in the wedding, such as the clergy, musicians and parents.

2. Include the order and parts of the ceremony, music, and a thank you to all the guests and everyone who made the day special for the bride and groom.

3. Describe the significance of the wedding theme if you have one. Use art depicting the theme. Use the wedding colors and the flowers chosen to decorate the program. Scatter love quotes, poems, or quotes from the bride and groom through the program.

4. Explain the meaning of parts of the ceremony such as a unity candle.

5. Include lyrics to the first dance song and explain why it was chosen. Include song lyrics to other songs in the ceremony, and the text of readings used in the ceremony.

6. Use a picture of the bride and groom as your program's cover and scatter other pictures of them through the program.

7. Write a special dedication to deceased relatives who were very special to the bride and groom.
