How to Make Firework Fuses

Firework fuses are easy to make right in your own living room. If you are making fireworks at home, or if you have fireworks and one of the fuses has fallen off of, you can make some new fuses out of everyday things that you have lying around your home. This article will outline the steps that you need to take to make your own homemade firework fuses.

Things You'll Need:

• Scissors
• Yarn
• Lighter fluid
• Metal bowl

1. Cut a length of yarn. Yarn is excellent material to use for a homemade fuse. It’s easy to work with, yet thick enough so that it won’t burn up too quickly. Try to cut off a little bit more than you think you need, it’s always good to have a little extra time on a fuse.

2. Pour some lighter fluid into a metal bowl. You won’t need very much, just enough to cover the length of yarn.

3. Soak the yarn in lighter fluid. Make sure that the yarn is completely saturated.

4. Lay the yarn out to dry. Having this dry layer of lighter fluid over the yarn will ensure that the yarn will not go out.

5. Place your new homemade fuse into your firework.

Tips & Warnings

• When drying the yarn, make sure that there is no open flames or extreme heat near it. Lighter fluid is very flammable.
• Children should ask an adult to help them with this process.
