How to Sell Media Products With CreateSpace

Selling items online can prove to be an extremely lucrative thing. If you have what customers want, then there's a good chance that you can turn a hobby into a thriving online business. One of the best ways to get started with this new venture is to work with a web service that will let you distribute your products. CreateSpace is an online service that allows users to sell media in various formats. With a few helpful tips, you'll soon learn how to sell media products with CreateSpace.

  1. Step 1

    Click the "Create a new account" link on the homepage.You'll need to enter a few basic details to get started such as a valid email address, a password, first name, last name and your country. If you'd like to keep updated on the latest changes or promotions going on, then place a check in the "Send me updates and promotions" box. There's also an optional section that will allow you to enter a referrer code and offer details on how you found Createspace. After entering all of the necessary details, click the "Create my account" button to establish a brand-new account.

  2. Step 2

    Read the "Member agreement" section that will appear immediately after you have created a new account. If you agree to the terms and conditions, then select the corresponding box and move forward by clicking the "Continue" button. For anyone that does not agree to the membership terms, you won't be able to establish a Createspace account or move forward.

  3. Step 3

    View new messages and alerts that have been sent to you by clicking the “Message center” link under the “My account” section of the page. You'll be able to read through these items by clicking on the subject area of each one. After reading your messages, you'll have the chance to delete them or leaving them in the message center. Alerts can be dismissed by selecting the “Start fixing issue” or “I have fixed issue” links.

  4. Step 4

    Start selling media products on CreateSpace by selecting the “Click here” link on the “Member dashboard” page. You'll be able to sell professionally made DVDs, video downloads and a few other media products. Click onto one of the media products options to begin your selling process.

  5. Step 5

    Click the “DVD on demand” link to start selling your videos in a DVD format. They will be professionally made and shipped to every customer that makes a purchase. Customers can buy these DVD's via CreateSpace, Amazon.com, or even your very own website. You'll need to set a sales price for them and then look forward to receiving your monthly royalty payments. If you decide to sell your DVD on the CreateSpace website, then there will be a few deductions such as a fixed charge of $4.95, and 15 percent of your overall sales price. Users that want to sell their DVDs on Amazon.com can expect to have the same fixed charge attached and 45 percent of the overall selling price, instead of 15 percent.

  6. Step 6

    Select the “Start your project now” button on this overview page and you'll be directed to the next page with with to sending options. If you have your video on a DVD, then click the “Send DVD” link to start adding the setup information. You'll be prompted to enter the title name, description, release date and a few other details. As you enter the necessary information, click the “Save and continue” button at the bottom of the page to move to the next step. Once you have added images and details for your DVD, you'll be able to verify that everything has been entered correctly before your final submission.

  7. Step 7

    Select the “Video download” link if you'd rather sell videos via downloading instead of physical DVDs. Your customers will have the chance to purchase these downloads from the Amazon Unbox website. They'll be able to rent it or fully purchase the download for ownership. Set the pricing for each download and then wait for your monthly royalty payments to start. For every customer that purchases your video download, you'll receive 50 percent of the purchase price. You'll be guided through this process by entering vital details, such as title and description. In order to completely finish a section, you'll need to click the "Save and continue" button.
