Lemon is an invigorating oil that gives a sense of health and raises spirits. Lemon is a refreshing cleaner and blends with other essential oils to lighten heavier aromas. Lemon oil's active ingredients have antiseptic and stimulating properties, which also serve as expectorants and decongestants.

    Healing with Lemon Oil

  1. Step 1

Boost your circulation. Lemon invigorates the immune system, which helps the body fights illness and disease. Lemon oil improves circulation by rubbing a few drops directly on cellulite.

  2. Step 2

Use lemon oil as an antiseptic. Treat insect bites and minor cuts and scrapes with lemon oil on a cotton ball or swab.

  3. Step 3

Lighten a heavy mood and sterilize the air with lemon scent in candles or in sprays to create a light and clean scent. To make your own scent add to a quarter cup of distilled water, two drops each lemon oil, lavender oil, bergamot and geranium. Spray the mixture, inhale and feel your gloom lift and lighten.

  4. Step 4

Ward off respiratory problems. At the first sign of a cold use a steam inhaler and/or a mixture on a handkerchief. For inhalation, add two drops each lemon oil and cinnamon oil to distilled water. You may also place two drops each lemon oil, rosemary oil and four drops eucalyptus oil on a handkerchief. Take a whiff throughout the day.

  5. Step 5

Use as a facial tonic. Blend two drops each, lemon, sandalwood, peppermint and cypress oils with one tablespoon distilled water. Apply with a cotton ball. Lemon helps firm older skin if you add myrrh and frankincense.
