You'll need to plug your iPod into the PS3's USB port to transfer music.

The Sony PlayStation 3 is more than a gaming console. It can actually function as full-service media center capable of playing movies, displaying photos and playing music, including .AAC or .MP3 music files that can be copied from an Apple iPod or other USB storage device.

Instructions

    • 1

Plug the iPod into the USB port on the PS3.

    • 2

Select "Music" from the main menu CrossMediaBar (XMB), then "USB" and "Device" (iPod).

    • 3

Open the "Music" folder. A series of folders will appear. This is where the iPod stores music files. Select any folder, press the triangle button on the PS3 controller, then select "Copy Multiple."

    • 4

Press the circle button on the PS3 controller to get back to the main "Music" folder once copying is complete. The music files from the iPod will have been stored in this folder, and you can now play them.

Tips & Warnings

  • Inside the "Music" folder in the iPod, the music files are not named properly. Once the files are transferred to the PS3, it will read the AAC and MP3 tags and display the music files properly with artist and song names.

  • Purchase/protected music may not play on your PS3 after copying because of copyright protection. Do not violate copyright laws--you should own the music before you copy it onto a PS3.

  • Depending on how many songs are on your iPod, it may take several minutes to copy all of the files.
