Do you need to remember a birthday? What about meeting with a client or a doctor's appointment? If you have given up on paper calendars, wrapping string around your finger or writing handwritten notes that get lost, then try to use alerts in your cell phone. You can set up cell phone alerts in many different models.

From Quick Guide: Phone Downloads Guide
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Go to the "Tools" menu of your cell phone, or access the menu that has your calendar or a "Memo" function on it. This is necessary to access your calendar and set the alerts.

  2. Step 2

Select or click on the "Calendar" button on the cell phone by hitting the "OK" button or using your stylus pen. This will display the current calendar month.

  3. Step 3

Click on the date that you would like the alert set for. You can have multiple cell phone alerts set for the same day.

  4. Step 4

Click the "Add" function (or similar function, depending on the model of your cell phone) and begin typing in the information for the alert. Make sure to place something in the subject line or the "Memo" field on the top of your screen.

  5. Step 5

Type in the start and end date on the cell phone screen, and select the "Repeat" function if this is a daily business type reminder or an alert to take certain medications at the same time.

  6. Step 6

Set reminder alerts in case you miss the initial alarm for up to an hour after the missed alert from your cell phone. You will need to manually turn off the alarm so the reminders do not keep sounding.

  7. Step 7

Set the ring tone for your cell phone alert. You can have different ring tones for different alerts on your mobile device. You should see a bell or alarm icon on your screen that means the alarm has been saved and activated. If not, repeat the previous steps.

  8. Step 8

Click "Save" and repeat the process for as many cell phone alerts as you need that week. You have completed the process to set manual alerts on your cell phone.

  9. Step 9

Subscribe to cell phone text alerts for subjects such as Amber Alerts for missing children, stocks and investments, weather reports, sports, Internet updates, news and GPS locations. These are set up through an outside subscription or directly through your cell phone carrier.

Tips & Warnings
  • Set time aside each week to set alerts and appointments on your cell phone.
  • Check your manual for exact menu titles and how to access the alerts feature.
  • Text charges may apply for outside (SMS) subscription alerts.
