Do you need to remember a birthday? What about meeting with a client or a doctor's appointment? If you have given up on paper calendars, wrapping string around your finger or writing handwritten notes that get lost, then using alerts in your cell phone is the answer you seek. You can set up alerts in many different models of cell phones; here's how.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

Step1
Go to the "Tools" menu of your phone, or access the menu that has your calendar or a "Memo" function on it. This is necessary to access your calendar and set the alerts.
Step2
Select or click on the "Calendar" button by hitting the "OK" button or using your stylus pen. This will display the current calendar month.
Step3
Click on the date that you would like the alert set for. You can have multiple cell phone alerts set for the same day.
Step4
Click the "Add" function (or similar function, depending on the model of your cell phone) and begin typing in the information for the alert. Make sure to place something in the subject line or the "Memo" field on the top of your screen.
Step5
Type in the start and end date, and select the "Repeat" function if this is a daily business type reminder or an alert to take certain medications at the same time.
Step6
Set reminder alerts in case you miss the initial alarm for up to an hour after the missed alert from your cell phone. You will need to manually turn off the alarm so the reminders do not keep sounding.
Step7
Set the ring tone for your cell phone alert. You can have different ring tones for different alerts on your mobile device. You should see a bell or alarm icon on your screen that means the alarm has been saved and activated. If not, repeat the previous steps.
Step8
Click "Save" and repeat the process for as many alerts as you need that week. You have completed the process to set manual alerts on your cell phone.
Step9
Subscribe to text message alerts for subjects such as Amber Alerts for missing children, stocks and investments, weather reports, sports, news and GPS locations. These are set up through an outside subscription or directly through your cell phone carrier.

Tips & Warnings

  • Set time aside each week to set alerts and appointments on your cell phone.
  • Check your manual for exact menu titles and how to access the alerts feature.
  • Text charges may apply for outside (SMS) subscription alerts.
