Making videos may seem easy because many people think that you only need a camera, a cameraman and subject matter. But by knowing how to manage a video project, you can create videos that are more sophisticated and well-executed. Planning and knowing the right people to work with goes a long way when making a video project of your own. Whether you are shooting a home video or a music video, here are some ways to manage your project.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Camera
  • Lighting
  • Sound equipment
  • Actors
  • Writers
  • Video editor
  • Director
  • Producer
  • Costumes and props

Step1
Create a team for your project. Your team doesn't have to be all experts in directing or video editing, even somebody who has absolutely no experience in shooting projects may be able to work with you. Round up people who are interested in learning more about video or somebody who has some knowledge about the topic of your video.
Step2
Delegate tasks and responsibilities. In managing a simple video project, you don't need to have all the titles that a full-length feature film has. You just need a director, who will be in charge of executing the video; the producer, who is the leader of the project and is in charge of making sure everything is in order and provided for; the actors; the scriptwriter; and various assistants.
Step3
Plan materials and props. After you have delegated responsibilities to your team members, select the script and create a budget of materials accordingly. Aside from cameras, lighting and sound equipments, you will need costumes, props and ideas for the setting. You don't need to buy expensive props per se, because a video is all about making things work on camera to meet an objective so you can improvise and make use of things that are already available to you.
Step4
Set a deadline. This is an important component of managing a video project. Set a schedule that works for everyone and distribute it among members. The key here is being able to work together as a team because making a video is all about teamwork. You cannot start or continue the project without the main people responsible for handling the project. Remind everyone throughout the duration of the project about the deadline and give out updates about the project's progress.
Step5
Shoot and edit. This is about creating the video itself. This should come relatively easy because you have already planned everything that goes into this beforehand, from materials to key personnel. This is mainly executing your ideas and creating the video that you envisioned. After the shoot, have the video editor manage the footage and create a movie out of it through cuts, sounds, etc.
