1
Remove the contact lens from its packaging or from your contact case and place the lens on the index finger. The rounded edges should be pointing upward.
-
2
Using the opposite hand hold the eye open to keep the eyelashes out of the way. This will also make it much easier to insert the lens.

3
Touch the contact lens to the eye. The lens should grab hold of the eye and create a type of suction. To make sure the lens is in the eye correctly roll the eye from side to side and up and down. If you have done this correctly the lens should adjust itself so that you can see clearly.

4
Remove the contact from the eye by placing the index finger against the middle of the eye.
-
5
Use the index finger to move the lens to the edge of the eye and grip it between the thumb and index finger. It should come right out.

Tips & Warnings
If it has been a while since your last exam you should have your eyes examined by a professional to make sure that you don't have any new eye problems such as glaucoma or tunnel vision. This is especially important for children. As children grow their eyes change drastically from year to year. Having the wrong prescription can cause vision problems and headaches.
Purchase a contact case with a securely closing lid and contact solution. Depending on the type of contacts purchased you may need to clean and remove your contacts daily.
With a recent prescription contact lenses can be purchased online for much less than though an eye doctor.
Make sure that you hands are clean before removing and inserting your contact lens.
