From Quick Guide: Phone Directory Basics
Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Check the internet when you are looking for a cell phone number. This will be your best bet, as the internet will have lists of available numbers. The National Cellular Phone registry is a relatively new and useful cell phone number lookup, and is one of the best.

  2. Step 2

Check into public records that are found on the internet. Google the person's name to see if any information comes up with it. You may get a cell phone number this way.

  3. Step 3

Pay a site that tracks down people. You should be prepared to pay a nice-sized fee for this privilege. Before doing so make sure that they keep up-to-date databases of the most current phone numbers. Try searching for a number that you know is active, to see if it comes up.

  4. Step 4

Try tracking down friends and family of the person you are looking for. You may be able to get their cell phone number from them.

  5. Step 5

Check networking sites such as MySpace or Facebook. You may be able to find the person you are looking for there, and then simply ask them for their cell phone number. Or, try finding friends and family of the person to see if you can get a cell phone number that way.

  6. Step 6

If the person you are trying to contact owns a business, try looking it up on the internet. They will almost for sure list their cell phone number.
