Press down lightly on the desired ink cartridge to release it from its housing. Pull the print cartridge straight out toward you. Place the old cartridge in a plastic bag to prevent staining due to leaking of any residual ink. Set the plastic bag aside for recycling of the ink cartridge.

4
Open the package containing the new print cartridge. Remove and discard the plastic tape covering the contacts and ink nozzle by using the pull tab. Be careful to not touch the copper-colored contacts or the ink nozzles under tape.

5
Slide the new ink cartridge straight forward into the empty slot. Push the upper part of the ink cartridge until it clicks into place. The tri-color ink cartridge fits into the left slot. The black or photo ink cartridge fits into the right slot.

6
Close the print cartridge door. Wait for the HP Officejet printer to prompt you to align the ink cartridge. Print an alignment sheet. Load the alignment sheet on the left front corner of the scanner glass with the top of the page to the left. Verify that there is plain paper loaded in the input tray, and then press the “Scan” button to align the printer.
