Things You'll Need:
- Rhinestones (hundreds)
- Ballet slippers
- Super glue
-
Step 1
Get a pair of ordinary ballet slippers. They should be in good condition in the soles and heels of the shoes. There is no point in making pristine shoes that will soon fall apart. The only exception to this is if you are making them for a one time use. Then, it is alright to choose less than stellar shoes. Otherwise, get a new pair when possible.
-
Step 2
Make sure to have your little ballerina try on the shoes so that they are the perfect fit. Children's feet tend to grow quickly so take an accurate fitting.
-
Step 3
Cover a living room table or counter top with old newspaper.
-
Step 4
Lie the ballerina shoes out on the newspaper. Grab one slipper to start the process.
-
Step 5
Apply a dab of super glue to the back of a rhinestone. Make sure it is generous enough to fill he back of the rhinestone, but it should not be so large that it seeps past the edges when placed firmly on the slipper. All that should be visible is the rhinestone...as if it magically sticks to the slipper.
-
Step 6
Place the rhinestone firmly on the slipper.
-
Step 7
Leave just a small space between that rhinestone, and glue another one to the slipper.
-
Step 8
Repeat Steps 5 to 7 until both slippers are completely covered in rhinestones.
-
Step 9
Leave the slippers overnight to dry in a cool, dry area. Make sure this area is out of reach of any pet or child. On top of a cabinet or refrigerator might work marvelously.
-
Step 10
Check to make sure the glue has completely dried.
-
Step 11
Present your shoes to the little ballerina in your life. She will be thrilled at her new ballet shoes.
