Step 1
Open and run the application. Left-click on the application icon in order to open and run this program.

Open the desired image file. To open a desired image file, scroll to the “File” tab on the command bar and click “Open.” Browse to the desired image file and click “Open.”

Create a new layer group. To create a new layer group scroll to the “Layers” tab on the command bar and select “New Layer Group.”

Set layer group attributes. A layer group properties box will open. Name the layer group under the “Name” field. Set the “Blend Mode” using the “Blend Mode” drop down menu. Define the opacity by setting the number 0-100 in the “Opacity” field. You can check “Highlight Layer Group in Palette” to more easily locate the layer group in the layers palette to the right. Check or uncheck the “Layer Group is Visible” and the “Lock the Transparency” boxes as desired.

Step 5
Define blend ranges. To define blend ranges click on the “Blend Ranges” tab in the layer group properties box. You can choose from a drop down menu of different gray blend ranges and even manipulate the blend ranges of the current layer and the underlying layer/s in the group.

Add layers to the group. To add layers to the group, create a new layer. Then simply left-click on the layer in the layer palette to the right, and drag it into the group. A black line will appear when you drag a new layer into the group. Once added to the group, the layer will display a two-window icon on the upper left side of the individual layer, inside of the layer palette.
