How to Fold Bandana

A bandana, or do-rag, is a versatile, utilitarian piece of clothing that still functions as a fashion statement. The most popular way of wearing a bandana, by far, is folded into a triangle and then tied onto the head. Women in particular wear this style as a fashion statement or to keep their hair clean and tucked away while working. You may see men wearing this style, too. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Lay your bandana out flat on a solid, flat surface. If it's wrinkled, iron it to remove the wrinkles.

    • 2

Fold one corner of your bandana to the opposite corner. This forms a triangle shape.

    • 3

Drape the bandana over your head. The middle point of the triangle should be in the back of your head, and the longest straight part of it--the fold--should be over your forehead.

    • 4

Pull the two side points of the triangle around to the back of your head and tie them in a half granny or square knot.

    • 5

Tuck the middle point of the bandana into the knot you started, then finish tying the knot. This keeps the middle part of your bandana from sticking up.
