From Quick Guide: Las Vegas Hotel Basics
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Compare the prices for different locations. You can find some of the cheapest hotels in the world in Las Vegas, and you can find some of the most expensive hotels in Las Vegas. A lot of people vacation in Las Vegas to have a cheap vacation, but some come for the glitz and glamor. You want to find a hotel that fits your budget for the vacation. With so many hotels to choose from, this should not be a problem.

  2. Step 2

Plan your entertainment for your vacation. If you are not renting a car, you will most likely want to stay at a hotel nearby your entertainment so you do not have to find another method of transportation besides your feet. Almost all of the main attractions are located on Las Vegas Boulevard so you can use the monorail or walk to your destination. You should buy tickets for any must-see attractions ahead of time, and plan your stay around your main events.

  3. Step 3

Decide on the amenities. All of the hotels on the strip have the basic amenities like a pool and casino, but you may want a certain thing in your hotel. Some need internet access, and others want to make sure a certain kind of restaurant is within the hotel grounds. The theme of the hotel is an important consideration for some.

  4. Step 4

Pick your location on the strip. If you like the older style hotels, you may want to stay downtown. But, if you like the larger and newer hotels, you want to stay on the main strip. The north end of the strip tends to be more crowded, but there are a lot of free attractions nearby. If you do not mind walking, you can stay on the south end of the strip and save some money.

  5. Step 5

Plan who is coming with you on your vacation. If it is a romantic honeymoon, you may not want to stay on the south side of the strip because there is a lot of activities for families such as arcades and roller coasters. That may be your best option if you are bringing along the whole family. Also, if you are traveling with an older crowd you may enjoy staying downtown. You'll find less crowds and more gambling downtown.

Tips & Warnings

  • Be prepared to walk a lot while you are in Las Vegas. While the hotels are located right next to each other on the strip, they are still quite large.
