Things You'll Need:
- The gear discussed below.

Step 1
Lace up! For kwando, you should wear cross training/running/athletic shoes only. Your shoes should be specially designed for indoor aerobic workouts, with no cleats or platforms. Have your shoes fitted by a professional. This will provide optimum safety and support for your feet, ankles and legs in this high-intensity, medium-impact workout.
-
Step 2
Stay supported! All women should wear a supportive and comfortable sports bra. This class is on average medium impact, but can be made low or high depending on your own variations. As with most aerobic exercise classes, a sports bra is highly recommended for comfort and ease in your kickboxing, punching and cardio movements.
-
Step 3
Get the right fit. A comfortable, tight to medium fit top is recommended. Big, baggy t-shirts and other loose fitting tops will interfere with punches and kwando movements. Tank tops or tightly fitted t-shirts are best. Do not wear long sleeves. This class is very cardio-intensive and you will get too hot if you wear long sleeves, causing you discomfort.
-
Step 4
Pick out the right pants. Exercise/running shorts or tight workout pants are options for the bottoms. Make sure your shorts allow for flexibility in the legs and comfort/airiness if desired, as there is a lot of kicking. Again, no baggy sweatpants or nylon pants due to the nature of the foot and legwork. Tight yoga-style pants or Capri's are also great options for this class, allowing for flexibility and streamlined movement.
-
Step 5
Pull it back! Women are advised to wear a ponytail. If your hair is short, wear a headband. Keep your hair out of your face. The punching and kicking will cause hair to go awry. A tight and out-of-the-way style will prevent hair from getting in the face. Headbands are also great because they soak up sweat and keep it off of the face.
