Biblical encouragement to give to others.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Your own resources.
  • A Bible (Optional)
  • Prayer (Recommended)
  • Community
Step1
In Luke 3:16 Jesus is Baptized by His own cousin.

The first step in investing in others is to take into consideration that no one is to above or below you whom you can invest in.
Jesus did not think it below Him to receive Baptism from John the Baptist.
Neither should we consider encouragement, blessing, giving benevolence and praying for others out of our realm.
These are just a few of the suggestions on How to invest in others.
Step2
In Luke 4:18 Jesus' ministry included healing, casting out demons (who acknowledged Him as Christ, Luke 4:41), and calling sinners to repentance (Luke 5:32).
When investing in others we may come across folks that need recovery from alcohol, drugs, mental problems, illnesses and other ailments.
This does not mean we can not approach hurting people and invest in their lives with help getting them into treatment centers, counseling, medical treatment or whatever their need is.

The best way to invest in people who require more than just a one time encouragement is to take into consideration how much time and energy do you have to invest into their lives.
Taking an honest self-assessment is not un-Biblical.
Jesus even used the example of counting the cost. Referring to when a man goes to war he makes sure he has the resources and fighting men to win the battle.

It is the same with people who have more serious problems.
Count the cost.
Ask yourself if you have the mental, physical and spiritual resources to help them.
If not do not feel useless by referring them to other people, agencies, schools, treatment centers whatever to get them the help they need.
This does not mean that you have not "invested" something in their lives.
In fact you not only invested into their lives but also showed them an example in humility.
In that you admit you don't have all the answers but you're willing to point them in the right direction to get help.
Step3
In Luke 6:12-13 We see that not only did Jesus declare Himself Lord of the Sabbath (Luke 6:5) and healed on the Sabbath (Luke 6:10), enraging the Jewish Leaders, He spent much time in prayer, and investing Himself in the twelve disciples He had chosen (Luke 6:12-13).

After we have been disciples of Christ for some time it is now time to invest what we have learned in others.
This takes not only meditation in the Word, but also application of God's commandments.
The greatest commandment Jesus gave us is to Love one another.
In so doing Love cover overs a multitude of sins.
Your last step in investing in others lives is to remember your reward is in heaven and to expect nothing in return.
If you're really doing a good job...You will most likely experience persecution, but be of good cheer....so they persecuted others before you.

Memory verses: Luke 4:18-19
"The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed; to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord."
Best of Everything to you.
